SEPTEMBER 25, 2016

Pittsburgh, PA

It was announced today that Golf legend and U. S. Coast Guard veteran Arnold Palmer crossed the bar today, at age 87.

Mr. Palmer was the only U. S. Coast Guard veteran to also "have an army" they called Arnie's Army, which was his devoted fans!.

On behalf of all the members of the CGCVA, our deepest sympathies go to his family for the loss of our shipmate and great sportsman!

CG Vets!

A Test blog!!!

Our old website was well overdue for a upgrade to take advantage of today's website technologies.

The old website served faithfully for many years, they say; if it's not broke, don't fix it, but the old site did break down.

As with all things digital they go out of style and function very quickly.

We are building the new site to enhance our communication and connection with our  Coast Guard veterans.

I was reviewing the amazing progress the Quarterdeck Log has made over the decades as I started setting up the archives,

from a hand typed collection of pages in 1986  ( <- click link to see!)

to the slick professional magazine it has become today .

The Quarterdeck log has grown into a truly excellent publication in all respects.

That high level of quality is the inspiration for this new website.

Feel free to test out all the bells and whistles ..

that is what I'm doing as I learn the inner workings of creating this website!

Your comments and suggestions are welcome.
